Guth has worked as the Business and Community Development Director in Lincolnton since 1998. He has worked in the community development field since 1993. He is a graduate of the UNC School of Government Municipal Administration Course and the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute. He has a MS in Planning with a dual concentration in economic development and historic preservation from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN and a BA in Political Science from Furman University, Greenville, SC.
Abby A. Cole Events & Marketing Coordinator
Cole joined the Business and Community Development team in November 2011. A native of Lincoln County, Cole is no stranger to downtown Lincolnton. A graduate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Communication Studies focusing on Public Relations and certification in International Public Relations, Cole will fill the position of Event and Marketing Coordinator for the City of Lincolnton.

Good to Great in the Social Sector
The Business and Community Development Department, comprised of two employees and more than 20 Downtown Development Association volunteers, is responsible for coordinating the physical, economic and social development of Lincolnton to enhance the use of existing infrastructure to maintain and strengthen the tax base. Its activities focus primarily on downtown, and include physical improvements; promotion and tourism development; business retention, recruitment and retail development; and public/private joint ventures.
