How do I find out about employment openings?
Employment opportunities are available through the City’s website and the Employment Security Commission (529 North Aspen Street, 704-735-8035). Employment opportunities are also posted in the lobby of City Hall.
How do I apply for a vacant position?
Copies of the employment application can be obtained at the jobs tab on this site. Applications may also be picked up at the receptionist desk located in the lobby of City Hall.
If I am interested in a position, but it is not listed on the vacancy list, what should I do?
Applications are only accepted for positions when they are posted.
What happens after an application is submitted?
- After the closing date, applications are reviewed to determine if minimum requirements are met. Applications that do not meet minimum requirements are no longer considered.
- The remaining applications are again reviewed to determine which ones have the highest level of qualifications as required by the job description. These applicants are then called and scheduled for an interview.
- The successful applicant from the interview stage will have to pass a drug screen test and criminal background check before a final job offer will be made.
