Christmas Bonus
The Christmas Bonus is subject to approval annually by Mayor and Council. If approved it is normally distributed to eligible employees during the month of November.
Credit Union
City of Lincolnton employees are eligible to join the North Carolina Local Government Employees Credit Union (LGCU) at the State Employees Credit Union branch. The Credit Union offers a variety of competitive services and programs to its members. www.lgcu.com
Dental Insurance
The dental insurance plan for the City of Lincolnton employees is with Municipal Insurance Trust of North Carolina, and administered by MedCost Benefit Services. Employees participate in a dental plan, which is geared toward preventative maintenance. Basic dental care, such as exams and cleanings, is covered at 100% of reasonable and customary charges. Other services are grouped into classes and pay a percentage of reasonable and customary charges after a calendar year deductible is met. The maximum benefit paid out in a calendar year per person is $1000.00.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The City of Lincolnton offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Employee Assistance Program and Counseling Associates to employees and their immediate family members. The program is a free confidential counseling and referral service to assist with problems such as stress, marital/family problems, chemical/alcohol dependency, or financial problems. Health Insurance
The health insurance plan for the City of Lincolnton employees is with Health Benefits Trust of North Carolina, and administered by MedCost Benefit Services. The PPO plan offers employees an excellent provider/facility network. Employees who choose to use in-network providers have lower calendar year deductibles and co-insurance rates than employees who use out-of-network.
Emphasis is placed on wellness and preventative care, and the plan offers to each covered individual an unlimited wellness benefit annually.
Holidays
Eleven (11) or twelve (12) paid holidays are observed per year. An employee must be in pay status the day before and the day after the holiday to receive the holiday pay. The following is a list of the designated holidays:
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday.

Life Insurance
City of Lincolnton employees are provided a life insurance policy upon their employment under a group policy issued to Municipal Insurance Trust of North Carolina by UnumProvident Life and Accident Insurance Company.
North Carolina Supplemental Income Plan (401k)
City of Lincolnton employees have the opportunity to voluntarily enroll in the North Carolina Supplemental Income Plan, which is administered by Prudential Financial Services. Details to the plan and various on-line forms are available at www.retirement.prudential.com/ncplans.
Prescription Plan
The prescription plan is a component of the health insurance plan with Health Benefits Trust and administered by PharmAvail. The plan is comprised of a three-tier co-payment system with an overlay of an evidence-based plan, and also offers the convenience of mail order for maintenance drugs.
Retirement
All full-time employees, working at least 1000 hours per year, are covered by the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System beginning upon employment. The employee contributes 6% of his/her paycheck into their own retirement account, and the City contributes an amount as determined by the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer. An employee becomes vested in the retirement plan after 5 years of contributing service. Further details may be found at www.nctreasurer.com.
Sick Leave
Full-time regular employees working the basic workweek of 40 hours shall accrue sick leave computed at the following rate:
Hours accrued each month: 8 Hours accrued each year: 96
For employees having a workweek with greater or fewer hours than the basic workweek, sick leave shall be granted in the same proportion as their workweek. The City of Lincolnton accepts sick leave transfers when hiring employees directly from other NC governmental entities.
Vacation
Employees working the basic workweek of 40 hours earn vacation leave at the following rates:

Employees having a workweek with greater or fewer hours than the basic workweek, shall have vacation leave granted in the same proportion as their workweek.
Vision Insurance
City of Lincolnton employees have the option of purchasing a vision insurance plan with Community Eye Care. This plan offers the employee a basic eye exam for a $15.00 co-pay and then a $200.00 allowance towards the purchase of eye wear. www.communityeyecare.net
Years of Service Recognition Program
The City of Lincolnton recognizes its employees are the City's greatest asset. To recognize and reward regular full-time employees for their years of service to the City of Lincolnton, a service award program is in effect. Employees are recognized at an annual employee appreciation luncheon for each 5-year increment of service.
