Lincolnton Videos

The Lincolnton "Pots on Parade" can talk!

Did you know that the City of Lincolnton & Lincoln County are the Home of Catawba Valley Pottery? The hand dug clay from local sources, the wood fired “groundhog” kiln, and the wood ash alkaline glaze used to create Catawba Valley Pottery makes it one of only three distinct and continuously surviving pottery traditions in the United States and the only one that traces its origins to China more than 2,000 years ago. CVP “face jugs” borrow from African-American slave folk art.

James Scott from WCCB-TV Charlotte came to Lincolnton for his popular video series about interesting places to visit around Charlotte. A short drive up 321 from the Queen City, Lincolnton is "Near the city, near the mountains, near perfect," to quote the city motto. Home to wonderful street festivals and iconic Pots on Parade celebrating Lincolnton as the "Home of Catawba Valley Pottery," Lincolnton has a vibrant, thriving downtown scene. Add lots of public art, an active performing arts community for theatre & music and easy access to outdoor activities (the Carolina Thread Trail runs through the heart of downtown), and it’s a recipe for a good time! Come visit!
