Sneak peak of future dog park!

Dog Park Site Plan 7-31-19 (2)

The possibility of a dog park in the city is moving forward...

There’s been a lot of discussion over the past year about the possibility of building a dog park in the City of Lincolnton. At its August 1, 2019 meeting, City Council voted to move forward with exploring costs and will solicit bids to construct a dog park on existing city property. City Manager, Steve Zickefoose, shared a preliminary site plan and rendering of a dog park design that could be built on property adjacent to the Marcia H. Cloninger Rail Trail at Motz Avenue. The property was acquired by the city in May, 2019 to protect a city sewer line and easement that crosses the length of the 3 acre plot. The location and size make it a perfect site for a future dog park amenity for the City.

City Council will review the bids at a future meeting to determine if the construction cost can be covered in the 2019-20 city operating budget. Zickefoose discussed several funding options with the council members and believes the city can fund the project in the current budget.

Take a sneak peak at the preliminary site plan for the new Lincolnton Dog Park on Motz Avenue.
