The City of Lincolnton is pleased to announce that our Curbside Leaf Collection Service will begin this week and continue through February 15th.  Residents are encouraged to get their leaves to the curb for this week’s collection circuit.

This free service helps keep our neighborhoods tidy during the fall and winter months.  We rely on your cooperation to ensure the collection process is safe and efficient for our crews and equipment.

This year, the city will begin a new practice of collecting leaves.  Crews will now be out collecting leaves starting the first week of every month.  Once crews have completed a complete collection circuit of the city, they will not be out collecting again until the beginning of the next month.

Please keep your leaf piles clean.  The most important rule to prevent contamination is to place only loose leaves at the curb.  Do not mix any of the following items into your leaf piles:

Trash or Garbage

Limbs, Branches, or Brush as these items must be collected separately as part of the yard waste service

Rocks, Dirt, or Construction Debris

Bagged Leaves – loose leaves only

Foreign materials, especially metal or large limbs, can severely damage our vacuum equipment and cause delays for the entire collection route.

Placement Guidelines:

Rake your leaves to the curb or ditch line

Keep piles at least three feet away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, and fences

Crucially, please keep all your leaf piles out of the street and away from storm drains to prevent flooding during rain events

Please make sure leaf piles are within 12 feet of the curb or edge of the street, as our vacuum hoses will not extend out past this point.  Any remaining leaves will need to be raked to the curb for next month’s collection

Thank you for helping us maintain a smooth and timely leaf collection schedule!
